How To Tone Platinum Hair
I needed to tone my hair so and thought I'd share it with u all!
I used Wella Color Charm T18 silver lady toner: blue/violet base clairol professional pure white 20 vol. developer 2 parts developer , 1 part T18 mix, consistensy shouldn't be too runny, if so, add a little more toner
NOTE: APPLY TONER TO TOWEL DRIED HAIR, NOT COMPLETLY DRY... APLYING TO COMPLETLY DRY HAIR MAKES IT SUSCEPTIBLE TO BREAKAGE.
Apply from roots to ends you should start where hair is the most yellow. start timing after you've completed applying. rinse, condition and style.
did u really need to brush it?
or can i just spread it my hands and use it like shampoo? (w/gloves maybe if needed)

@R85J87L08 it usually tells u in the box. like for silver lady, the ratio is 2:1 meaning 2 parts developer, 1 part toner. the consistency should be gel-like. not too runny. when u lift ur brush, the toner should not run off the brush

so when mixing developer with the toner how do you know how much develope to use? do you put it like if you are mixing color or bleach till it gets creamy?

@ffxiiihope i would use a 10 vol. developer when u tone again. dont bleach again if your hair is already a pale yellow. your hair will melt. if anything, i would use a toner like manic panic virgin snow. it doesnt require using a developer so u wont damage your hair

i need some help lol, i bleached my hair 2 times from a light brown natural color. it was pale yellow and then i used the 20 volume and T18 silver lady. I made sure it was completly everywhere and used a comb as well. The onky problem is i rinsed it off WAY to early and now its like this very ugly faint yellow/silver/gray lol. I ove your hair and thats exactly what i’m trying to get. is it ok to wait a day and re-do the 20 volume and T18 or should i re-bleach and then use the 20 voulme and t18?

@Salodt23 ur good, just make sure your hair reaches the pale yellow stage before toning, otherwise your hair wont turn white

heeey,, i got a question, i have 30 volume developer creme and clairol professional creme toner, just this moment im bleaching a little section of my hair because i want a white stike, and that toner was the lightest one they had, a extra light patinum-base blue violet. am i following the steps right? or am i headed to a complete disaster?

Actually, its a silly question. I dont feel comfortable doing myself. I couldnt afford to go to one so thats why I asked. I’ll just have to wait until I can afford to go. thanks anyway. Oh, I dont like ur natural look. UB

im sure u can do your roots yourself: just make sure that when applying the bleach, you do not overlap product on already bleached hair. i only recommend this if you are comfortable with doing it yourself. if you aren’t, go to a proffesional

just use the same way as you would 30 vol. .. but try your best to not get on your scalp. when bleaching, apply it 1in. from scalp. cover w/ a plastic cap. in 30-40 mins (or when it gets to a yellow stage), apply to roots and let process for about 15-20 mins (covered). rinse, shampoo, condition. (your hair should be at a yellow/pale yellow stage for the haircolor to work properly) n then ur ready to apply color.

40 will actually work faster, the only reason y i don’t recommend it is cuz its very potent, and could damage your hair significantly if not done right. — you wont need the toner if you are using a permanent hair color and your hair reaches a pale blonde. what shade of ion creme are u using?

i m planning to dye my hair platinum blond and I have all the supplies.. I read one of your comment and you said not to use a 40vol. the damn lady at sally’s recommended me a 40vol.. Grr… and I bought the bid bottle kind DX . so A 40vol won’t work? cause I bought Quick White to dye my hair blond, then I got the color brilliance “ion” creme [permanent hair color] its suppose to make my hair white blond then i got the toner which is T11. will it work? it would help a lot if you replied. thanks!

I like the color very much. If you could move away from the computer screen in a different lighting, it would make it easier for all of us to see the beautiful silvery color. The monitor makes it look very blue! Just a thought!

dont use 40 vol. — that is used to bleach lift haircolor, not deposit: which is what you wanna do when u tone hair.
you should use 20 or 10 vol. developer — they have the small bottles that way u don’t have to spend too much on a bigger bottle. let me noe if u have other questions
